CCC Men’s Soccer Runs Over SUNY Broome 8-0

Cayuga Community College Men’s Soccer overpowered SUNY Broome with seven first-half goals to earn a conference and Region III win in their home opener on Wednesday.
Led by freshman Matthew Twigg’s three goals in the first half, the #7 Spartans led comfortably throughout the match on their way to an 8-0 victory over the Hornets. Cayuga is now 2-1 on the season, with all matches coming in Region III play.
The Spartans scored less than two minutes into the match, with sophomore Joseph Edet scoring off an assist from Kai Reading and Maxwell Bedford. Owen Steedman scored 10 minutes later, followed by Reading’s goal to make it 3-0 Cayuga.
Later in the first half Twigg scored three goals in five minutes, followed by Bedford’s goal with 10 minutes left to make it 7-0 Cayuga at the break. Logan Armstrong added the final goal late in the second half.
Zander Wishart led Cayuga with four assists in the match. Other Spartans who finished with assists were Aidan Etuazim, Josh Murray, Matthew Manton, Toshko Toshkov, Alessandro Martin, Edet, Reading, and Bedford.
Cayuga is home again Saturday, September 13, to host undefeated Fulton-Montgomery Community College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
