CCC Men’s Soccer Ends Regular Season 14-0

Cayuga Community College Men’s Soccer will enter the Region III playoffs with a perfect 14-0 record after defeating SUNY Niagara in their final match of the regular season on Saturday.
Cayuga’s attack started in the opening minutes with a goal by Jake Botterill, and the Spartans dominated the Thunderwolves the rest of the way for an 8-0 win. The #3 Spartans finished the regular season with a 14-0 record.
“I’m proud of our team and how hard we’ve worked, but our work isn’t done yet,” said Coach Chris Davison. “We want to win the regionals and push for the national title.”
Cayuga controlled the match throughout, with their defense and keeper Matthew Chitty holding the Thunderwolves scoreless. The Spartans led 4-0 at the break, with goals by Botterill, Kai Reading, and Reece Harper giving them the lead. They added four more goals in the second half to complete the win and shutout.
Botterill finished with three goals, his eighth match of the season with at least three goals scored. Harper had two goals, Reading and Tyrese Osayande had goals, and Ander Castillo Campos had a goal and an assist. Joseph Edet had two assists, and Hayden Poole, Jack Thomas, Will Fearon, Charlie Klinger, and Oliver Bowman had assists.
The Spartans will now wait for all Region III teams to finish their regular season schedules before finding out their first postseason opponent. The playoffs open on Sunday, Oct. 20.
