Auburn’s Tim Locastro hopes to continue playing in his home state next baseball season after signing a minor league deal with the New York Mets.
Locastro’s deal includes an invite to Spring Training with the National League club. The 30-year-old spent the last season-plus with the Yankees. In 47 games in 2022, Locastro hit .188 with three home runs and six runs batted in. Locastro stole eight bases with his sprint speed ranking in MLB’s 99th percentile, according to Statcast.
The Mets Triple-A team plays in Syracuse.
