Cattle Theft Investigation Leads to Two Arrests in Genesee County

Two Lockport residents are facing charges after deputies say 17 Holstein heifer calves were stolen from a Genesee County farm last month.

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office says the theft happened May 24 at Lamb Farms in the town of Oakfield.

Investigators identified the suspects as 25-year-old Torrence Schmitt and 26-year-old Kerisa Schmitt, both of Lockport.

Deputies say the pair is accused of stealing the cattle and are facing charges including burglary, grand larceny, and tampering with evidence.

Additional details about how the animals were allegedly taken were not released.

The case remains under investigation.
