Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua is hosting a job fair this Thursday, September 25, from 2 to 5 p.m., with hiring managers on-site and interviews available on the spot for candidates across a wide range of positions.

The event will be held in the Constellation Building for Health and Healing, located on the back side of the hospital off West Street. Attendees should enter via Thompson Way, where a large parking lot will be available on the left. Flags and sandwich boards will be posted to help direct visitors to the right entrance, and nurse recruiter Tori Perrin said she will be at the front door to greet job seekers.

“Come dressed for success and bring your resume,” Perrin said during a Tuesday morning interview on Finger Lakes News Radio. “We’ll have hiring managers stationed right in our cafeteria, and several of us from the recruitment team will be there to help folks navigate and get right in front of the right people.”

Thompson is looking to fill a broad range of roles — from entry-level and administrative positions to clinical roles including nurses, clinical secretaries, nutrition services staff, and environmental services workers. Perrin noted that while nursing remains a consistent need, the fair is open to anyone exploring healthcare employment at any level.

Thompson Hospital was recognized in 2025 by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of the top 150 places to work in healthcare nationwide. Perrin credited the hospital’s culture and leadership for the distinction, saying candidates often notice it immediately during interviews and shadowing visits.

“It’s very easy for me to talk about the culture because it’s real,” she said. “People feel it. We support our staff, we celebrate our staff, and it feels like a family.”

The job fair is free and open to the public. For more information about open positions at Thompson Hospital, visit thompsonhealth.com.

Paul Szmal: And good morning, welcome to FLX Morning as we continue here on Finger Lakes News Radio. Coming up on 7.52, it's 64. We definitely need the rain that Kevin Williams is forecasting to come in. But we're going to shift gears now and we're going to talk about a job fair that is coming up. Joining me right now is Tori Perron, who is the nurse recruiter at the Thompson Hospital. Tori, good morning. How are you this morning?

Tori Perrin: Good morning. I'm doing well. How about you?

Paul Szmal: I'm doing great. Doing great. Tell me a little bit about this job fair that's coming up.

Tori Perrin: So we are hosting a job fair here at Thompson on Thursday, the 25th of September from two to five. It will take place on our Constellation Building for Health and Healing. And we are really just open to having folks come and see what Thompson has to offer. We have a lot of different positions available, starting all the way from entry-level positions, administration positions, up to clinical positions. So lots of things to offer. And we like people to come check out Thompson because we have a wonderful culture here. And it feels like a family to work here. And we want people to come experience that.

Paul Szmal: You know, I was actually looking here and didn't realize that Thompson Hospital is listed as part of the top 150 places to work in health care published by Becker's Hospital Review in 2025. That's quite the honor.

Tori Perrin: It is an honor. And a lot of that really plays into our strong leadership and that culture that I refer to. I tell nursing students all the time when I speak to them that it's very easy for me to talk about the culture because it's real and people feel it. Clinical students feel it when they come in. Folks that come in for a shadow and an interview feel it. It is just a friendly environment. And we support our staff. We celebrate our staff. And people notice that very early on here.

Paul Szmal: Now, will there be interviews conducted as part of this job fair?

Tori Perrin: There will. So we will have several of our hiring managers available. They'll be stationed right in our cafeteria. And there will be several of us from the recruitment team to help folks navigate that and to get right in front of hiring managers on Thursday. So come with a resume and be dressed for an interview and ready to go.

Paul Szmal: That is exactly what we say, dressed for success.

Tori Perrin: Absolutely. We're talking with Tori Perrin, who is the nurse recruiter from Thompson Hospital, about the job fair that is coming up just a couple of days away on Thursday afternoon. And this will be at Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, correct?

Tori Perrin: Yes, that is correct. They can come right in through the Constellation Building for Health and Healing, which is on the backside of our hospital off of West Street. And there will be flags and sandwich boards to help direct people where to go and where to park and where to enter the building.

Paul Szmal: Is there any particular greater need this time around in terms of what you're looking for in terms of candidates?

Tori Perrin: It's really a combination. I mean, certainly as the nurse recruiter, I always speak to needing nurses. Health care is a challenging time right now. And nursing is a challenging profession, although a wonderful profession. So we're always looking for nurses, but we're also looking for folks in all of our different departments. Again, a lot of different things, you know, clinical secretaries in our physician practices, nurses in hospital, you know, nutrition services folks, environmental services folks. We have many, many open opportunities for folks, depending on what they're interested in.

Paul Szmal: Okay. And the job fair is from 2 until 5 this Thursday afternoon. Is there a particular lot that people should park in, Tori, to get to the job fair?

Tori Perrin: Yes. The best place to park is to, it's off of West Street and the road is called the Thompson Way. And when you pull down that road, there will be a large parking lot on the left and then the Constellation Building's on the right. And that's where you're going to enter. And then I will be at the front door to greet you and help you find your way and navigate through the fair.

Paul Szmal: All right. That sounds like a plan. Tori, thank you so much for joining us this morning. We greatly appreciate it.

Tori Perrin: Thank you for having me. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Paul Szmal: Yes, you too. It is 756 on FLX Morning.
