LC New York is giving away a 75-inch Samsung QLED Smart TV — complete with a wall mount — just in time for the big game, and a massive winter apparel sale is already underway at the Kingdom Plaza store.

Peter Semmel, a regular guest on the FLX Morning Podcast, stopped by Wednesday to talk deals ahead of what’s shaping up to be a busy stretch at the liquidation retailer. The TV giveaway is open now through January 31st. To enter, visit the contests and events page at fingerlakesdailynews.com. The prize includes a wall mount, though Semmel noted the set can also be used on its included legs.

On the sales floor this week, LC New York is running a winter apparel event with coats, jackets, and vests priced at $12, and sweaters, sweatshirts, and hoodies going for $7. The rest of their apparel is 40% off, and snow boots and boots are marked down 60% — well-timed given the rough weather forecast for next week.

Semmel also highlighted the store’s unique advantage over traditional retail: winter gear is actually available in winter. He noted that big-box stores often cycle seasonal merchandise out before the season peaks, while LC New York receives liquidation shipments year-round. The store took in 29 pallets on Monday, 38 on Tuesday, and had another 25 scheduled for Wednesday alone. A recent PlayStation 5 deal sold out within hours of being posted online Monday.

Shoppers are encouraged to check LC New York’s Facebook page — listed as New York LC on the platform — for the most up-to-date inventory and deals, since stock changes daily. LC New York is located in Kingdom Plaza in the Waterloo/Seneca Falls area. This week also features $3 vitamin C gummies, among other rotating deals.

Paul Szmal: Good morning 750, it's FHELX Morning Wednesday, and we have one of our favorite guests here, Peter Semmel from LC New York, because every time he comes in you save a whole ton of money and a whole bunch of stuff. Good morning.

Peter Semmel: Good morning, how are you?

Paul Szmal: Good, we appreciate your advertising business as always, and people have been hearing the ads. If you have a subpar television for watching the big game, because we can't call it what it really is for some dumb reason, how about a 75-incher from LC New York? Tell us about this TV.

Peter Semmel: It's a Samsung 75-inch QLED smart TV, and we're going to throw in a wall mount to boot.

Paul Szmal: So I can't keep up, there's 1080p and 9 billion P, QLED as well?

Peter Semmel: QLED, yeah, and then there's OLED, yes, there's UHD also would be a lower quality. You're really talking about a crisp quality picture when you look at this TV. I mean, at that size, I think I have a 40 or 42-inch at home, and that was a big step up for us.

Paul Szmal: Yes, yes, yes. So if you go to the contest and events page at Finger Lakes Daily News.com, you can sign up for that. The winner will be chosen January 31st, so the opening time. It includes the mount, because you're going to want to mount that on the wall nice and steady.

Peter Semmel: Yes, you can also use it on its legs, but we do include a wall mount just in case.

Paul Szmal: So the other thing that's going on, right in time for all this rotten winter weather that's coming in next week, is a winter apparel sale. What do you got?

Peter Semmel: Yeah, we're doing a winter apparel sale this week. We're doing coats, jackets, vests, $12, and we're doing sweaters, sweatshirts, and hoodies for $7. The rest of our apparel is just the standard 40% off. And then we're doing snow boots for 60% off.

Paul Szmal: Snow boots and boots, 60% off. Wow. And we were speculating earlier this morning, I thought you were on Facebook, and you are. It's New York LC, so it's backwards on Facebook. So if you look for New York LC on Facebook, you'll see all about the sale.

It's interesting that you could get these items, because we're always complaining the way retail works a lot of time now. If you want to buy a winter coat, you have to do it in July, and you can't find a bathing suit anywhere during the summer, and you can't find a winter coat during the winter.

Peter Semmel: Correct. Some of that, I'll give our recent season as Christmas. After the Christmas season, we'll receive some Christmas in, so we will store it until next year. Oh. So we have received some Christmas in after the Christmas season. We will just store it until this upcoming Christmas season in 2025. We had very, I wouldn't say very little left over from this season, but yeah, we'll have plenty to start the following Christmas season. So that goes the same for clothes.

Paul Szmal: What else is going on right now? Because I see on this Facebook page all kinds of deals in addition to the winter clothing.

Peter Semmel: Yeah, we have a ton of freight coming in. I will tell our listeners that we had 29 pallets come in on Monday. We had 38 pallets come in yesterday, and I think I got another 25 scheduled for today, my warehouse guy tells me. So there's just stuff just keeps rolling in.

The sales this week, let me think, we got snow boots is our biggest thing. The winter apparel sale is our biggest, but just the regular deals that I've posted online this Monday. Was it Monday we did it?

Paul Szmal: Yeah.

Peter Semmel: Yeah. Monday we did a live video. I see a PlayStation 5 on here.

Paul Szmal: Yes, those are actually already gone.

Peter Semmel: Oh, okay. PlayStation 5s went already on Monday. I couldn't believe how fast they went. I didn't think that was that good of a deal, but it was a great deal.

Paul Szmal: That's the next lesson we always have to tell people. Number one, inventory constantly changes. So come back, don't say, well, they didn't have that the other day. That doesn't mean they won't have it today. And that's the second part of the equation is these great deals go fast. So don't look on Facebook and go, oh, I'll go in a few days. Go now.

When I looked after we posted it, I actually looked at Walmart. It was $100 cheaper than Walmart. So that's a great deal.

Peter Semmel: Yeah. Yeah. It's LC New York in the, is it still called the Kingdom Plaza?

Paul Szmal: Kingdom Plaza. All right. And it's either Waterloo or Seneca Falls. We won't rehash that whole story again. But sign up for that big screen TV in time for the big game, 75-inch Samsung QLED TV. And it's going to look good. And I know everybody around here wants it to be Josh, everyone except me. But so it's, oh, I know you're wearing your Bill's hat. Go Bills.

Peter Semmel: Yeah. I actually, being a Patriots fan, we had our turn. So it's time for some other people to have it.

Paul Szmal: So LC New York in the Kingdom Plaza. And again, if you go to Facebook, that's the best place to see right up to the day what's going on. And it's New York LC on Facebook. And you'll see all those deals we talked about, winter apparel and the PlayStation's gone. But hey, that doesn't mean there won't be a truck next week or something else. So that's the great thing.

How do you do displays when you don't know what you're going to get? It's challenging where like Walmart has a planogram type system where they know where they're going to put it. It's very challenging for our staff to place it. Yesterday, for instance, I got a pallet of disposable 160-count like Solo cups. So I had to figure out where I'm going to put this pallet of cups. So if you get like a shipment of tall stuff, you have to change all your shelves. Some of it we do.

Peter Semmel: Yes, sir. Some of it we do. That's amazing.

Paul Szmal: Well, thanks again for coming in. We got a gift. Greg and I, we got some vitamin C gummies. So we can get a little healthier since we're under the neon sun here all day long. They're $3 this week at LC.

Peter Semmel: All right. Go get some. Thanks for coming in as always. Thanks for advertising with us. Really appreciate it.

Paul Szmal: Thank you, Ted. All right. It is now 7.56. It is FLX morning. It's the Wednesday edition on Finger Lakes Newsradio.
