Skip was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, Dorothy (Vaughan) Hastings in 2024, and sister, Beverly (Hastings) Mascari in 2019.

Skip was born in Rochester, the son of Warren and Alice (Regan) Hastings. He graduated from Brighton High School, class of 1956. On July 9, 1958, Skip married Dorothy in Brighton. In 1975, they moved to Bristol, where they raised their family together.

Skip spent his career working as a lineman for RG&E. During his time there, he formed a close friendship with his colleague Rip Neary. After retiring from RG&E, Skip worked at Hayes Construction and also found enjoyment working as a snowmaker at Bristol Mountain.

Skip was passionate about gardening and cooking, activities he thoroughly enjoyed throughout his life. He also enjoyed boating. One of Skip and Dorothy’s most treasured experiences was their month-long journey from Stuart, Florida, to Geneva, NY, traveling the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) in their 25-foot boat. This adventure provided them with many fond memories and stories about the marinas and harbors they visited along the way.

Skip and Dorothy also enjoyed traveling throughout the country, taking cruises, and spending their winters in Stuart, Florida.

A celebration of Skip’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Light Hill (comfort care home), 5160 Parrish St. Ext., Canandaigua, NY 14424. Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., Canandaigua. Condolences may be offered at www.johnsonkennedy.com.
