Victoria Ann (Gates) Horzempa

Canandaigua - Victoria Ann (Gates) Horzempa, age 70, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026, after a long battle with severe acute pancreatitis. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Paul M. Horzempa; three children to cherish her memory, Kasia Horzempa (Geoff Smith), Jessica Horzempa, and Nathan Horzempa, all of Canandaigua.

Victoria was born in Syracuse, NY. She was a 1973 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Syracuse, where she met Paul. Victoria attended business school for one year. She held numerous jobs in the secretarial field in Syracuse, Buffalo, and Washington D.C. Victoria worked for a short time at Happiness House in Canandaigua and volunteered at Sonnenberg Gardens and The Granger Homestead. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church.

Victoria enjoyed horseback riding, learning American and European history, and studying about Egyptian culture. She loved animals, especially her cat, Theo, and grand-pets, Loki and Cornelius. Victoria was a kind, generous, and friendly person, always eager to help others. She made great efforts to help her family in every way possible and, above all, put the needs and happiness of her family first. Victoria will be deeply missed by her family, who will cherish her memory forever.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, March 17, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sonnenberg Gardens, 250 Gibson St., Canandaigua, NY 14424, or The Granger Homestead, 295 N. Main St., Canandaigua, NY 14424.
