Sharon Delores Tibbits
Sharon Delores (Frost) Tibbits, 81, of Locke, passed away peacefully at home on March 21, 2026. A lifelong area resident, she was born February 4, 1945, a daughter of the late Fred and Frieda May Frost.
Sharon and her husband Richard operated a dairy farm for decades. Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family and was the best hostess, especially during the holidays. She celebrated family traditions and passed them on to her children and grandchildren. She loved to bake with her grandchildren and was a master of an apple pie from scratch and chocolate drop cookies. Sharon enjoyed spending time outdoors horseback riding and gardening. She grew a large vegetable garden every year, installed a 150-foot perennial garden (during her "retirement"), and owned 20+ horses and countless dogs and cats over the years. She enjoyed a car ride to visit family and friends, and she always had time for a phone call to keep in touch. Sharon and her sisters, Evelyn and Joyce, were known for having hours-long phone calls that ended well after midnight.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Richard Tibbits; three children, Laurie (Michael) Patten, Michael Tibbits, and Steven (Michelle) Tibbits; her siblings, Earl (Mary Jo) Frost, Gene (Jane) Frost, Gary (Laura) Frost, and Deb Andrews. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Ashley (Nicholas) Farrell, Jon (Bryanna) Patten, Kristen Patten, Sandra (Zac) Eastman, Kyle (Kennady) Tibbits, Alyssa (Nicholas) Crans, and Amber Tibbits. Her great-grandchildren, Emerson Farrell, Dawson Farrell, Tyler Eastman, Kamryn Eastman, Rosemary Tibbits, and Juniper Tibbits.
Sharon was predeceased by her siblings Evelyn VanLiew, Joyce Tyrrell, Roland Frost, Raymond Frost, Connie Reynolds, and Linda Cole.
In keeping with Sharon's wishes, on April 11, 2026, there will be a private graveside service followed by a public celebration of life gathering for family and friends at 2 PM at the Locke Banquet Hall, 1050-1060 NYS Route 38, Locke, NY. Arrangements are entrusted to the Shurtleff Funeral Home, and online condolences may be shared with Sharon's family at www.shurtleffservices.com.
