Bob was born in Seneca Falls, son of Robert and Janie (Whiting) Avery. He grew up in Waterloo and graduated from Mynderse Academy, Class of 1985. After high school, Bob joined the US Army and served proudly during Desert Storm.

Bob began his career with Eastman Kodak in 1998. He worked primarily as an electromechanical technician, with Kodak sending him to Monroe Community College where he received his associate's degree. He worked for Kodak until 2012, at which point he transitioned to a position at Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls, where he worked until 2022. In 2022, Kodak made him an offer that he couldn't refuse, and Bob joined them once again, and has worked for them until his untimely passing.

Bob, though a quiet man, was always known for his unique sense of humor and ability to make people smile. He was a very talented guitar player and loved music of all kinds but was especially a fan of Aerosmith and Steven Tyler. In his spare time, he enjoyed putting together model airplanes, and for many years, was an avid gun enthusiast. He was a previous member of the Waterloo Rifle and Pistol Club and was instrumental in getting his children involved with firearms and teaching them how to shoot.

Bob was a big fan of the Buffalo Bills, and he enjoyed cooking. His children will always remember him for his pasta fagioli and his famous spaghetti and meatballs.

Bob is survived by his mother, Janie Avery; son, Robert Avery III; daughter, Jessica Avery; brother, William (Sandy) Avery; as well as extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Avery; and maternal grandparents, Bud and Marie Whiting.
