Richard F. "Dick" Twardokus

Ionia – Richard F. “Dick” Twardokus, age 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2026. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Twardokus; two sons, Dale (Jennifer) Twardokus and Wayne (Carrie) Twardokus; three grandchildren, Lauren, Cole, and Brennan. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Twardokus, in 2020.

Dick was born in Rochester and was the son of Edward and Barbara (Gosnell) Twardokus. He attended Pittsford schools and was a graduate of Pittsford Central School, class of 1960. Dick earned an associate’s degree in engineering from Alfred State College in 1963 and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Buffalo in 1968. He held a professional engineer license and worked as a civil engineer for the NYS Department of Transportation from 1968 to 2003.

Dick was a longtime dedicated member and former chairman of the board of trustees of the Ionia United Methodist Church. He was the former chairman of Genesee Valley District for the United Methodist Church. Dick was also the former building chairman for the West Bloomfield Historical Society. He enjoyed fruit farming, gardening, and model trains.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, April 11, at 1 PM, at Ionia United Methodist Church, 2120 Elton Rd., Ionia. Interment will be in Millers Corners Cemetery, Ionia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ionia United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 8, Ionia, NY 14475, or the Ionia Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 43, Ionia, NY 14475.
