Peter "Pete" J. Hurd

Peter “Pete” J. Hurd, 41, of Aurora, passed away from his courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 5, 1984, in Auburn, NY.

Pete was a beloved son, brother, and devoted husband, and a true outdoorsman whose laughter and kindness touched the lives of everyone he met. He was known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and mischievous ways which would keep everyone on their toes. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his talent as a handyman, always ready to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife, Kara Wilson; mother, Kathryn S. Carder; father, Kenneth L. Hurd Sr.; brothers, Kenneth L. Hurd Jr. and Christopher A. Hurd; fur babies; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Pete was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Harry and Ruth Drennen Barber, and his paternal grandparents, Maynard and Charlotte Hurd.

There will be a memorial service at 11 AM on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Calvary Chapel, 2090 Crane Brook Drive, Auburn, and there will be a celebration of life at a later date in the summertime.
