Peggy J. Stannard

Ovid, NY November 24, 1951 – May 1, 2026 Age 74

Peggy J. Stannard, age 74, of Ovid, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Vincent House in Wayland.

Peggy was born on November 24, 1951, in Seneca Falls, the daughter of the late Roy Daniel and Helen Ethel (Frase) Ashbaugh. Following her education, she worked at Willard Psychiatric Center as a stenographer and retired as a librarian at Five Points Correctional Facility.

A strong sense of community service was central to Peggy’s life. She was a member of the Ovid Willard Lions Club, a sports booster for the South Seneca Girls Basketball team, and was past treasurer of the Ovid Ladies VFW.

In her free time, Peggy enjoyed reading and browsing QVC. She loved dining out, especially savoring a good filet mignon with a baked potato. Peggy also had a deep love for animals, particularly her four cats, and found joy in Peanuts—especially watching Snoopy.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was predeceased by her siblings, Jo Ann Hindle and Roy “Butch” Ashbaugh.

She is survived by her sister, Donna (Rev. Tom) Montgomery, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In keeping with Peggy’s wishes, services will be held privately at the convenience of her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Vincent House online at VincentHouseNY.org or by mail to PO Box 566, Wayland, NY 14512.
