Nancy Jean Sylvester

It is with deep sorrow and overwhelming love that we mourn the passing of Nancy Jean Sylvester (Showens), 73, of Jordan, NY. She passed on March 29th, at the Francis House in Syracuse, NY, surrounded by her loving family.

Nancy was born May 5th, 1952, in her childhood home in Jordan, NY, to Wesley (Bud) and Frances Showens. Nancy graduated from Jordan-Elbridge in 1971, and she worked at the Jordan Wire Mill and Welch Allyn before becoming a homemaker and caregiver to her entire family. She was known for her love of nature, her uncanny ability to win at every card and board game she played, her unmatched dedication to her family, and the overwhelming love she poured into her children and grandchildren.

Nancy is survived by her husband Jim Sylvester of Jordan, her brother Leon Showens of Weedsport, her son Jamie Sylvester (Sherry) of Jordan, her daughter Jessica Foy (Hugh) of Marcellus, her grandchildren Dylan (Katlin), Alyson and Morgan Sylvester, Jason, Gavin and Madison Foy, and her great grandchild Beau Sylvester. She was predeceased by her parents Wesley (Bud) and Frances Showens, along with 8 of her 9 siblings, with Leon being the only surviving, and her great grandchildren Abel and Rosie Jo Sylvester.

A private burial will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Francis House.
