Mark C. Quimby III
Mark C. Quimby III, 76, of Canasota, NY, passed away May 4, 2026, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Auburn, the son of the late Mark and Jacqueline (Polmanteer) Quimby II, and had resided most of his life in the Cato and Weedsport areas. Mark served our country proudly and honorably during the Vietnam War in both the US Navy and Army Reserves. He retired from Crucible Steel in Syracuse after many years of service. Mark was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He also loved his motorcycles and often would work on or rebuild several different models of Harley Davidsons. Mark was an avid Buffalo Bills football fan and NASCAR enthusiast. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his longtime companion of over 24 years, Anita; four children, Stacy (Mike) Pettigrass, Mark D. Quimby (Christy), Casey (Mike) Daniluk, Adam Quimby (Jake); grandchildren, Justin Fasce, Brandon (Jenni) Fasce, Kaleb Fasce (Sydney Alberici), Chelsea (Peter) Sigona, Giovanni Pettigrass, Lilliana Pettigrass, Devon Vega, twins Olivia and Joseph Daniluk; several great-grandchildren; siblings Linda (Ron) Evans, Bill Quimby, Kathy Wilkins, Kelly (Becky) Quimby, Keven Quimby; brother-in-law Mike Orr; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and beloved canine companions Shelby and Daisy.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by two sisters, Beverly Smith and Jackie Orr, and canine friend Bailey.
