Joy M. (Broadbent) Voorhees

Joy M. Voorhees, 93, passed away Monday, April 27, 2026, at the Homestead Nursing Home in Penn Yan with her family by her side.

Friends and family may call Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10:00 to 12:00 PM at Mull Funeral Home Inc., 113 Virginia Street, Waterloo. A graveside service will follow at the Spring Brook Cemetery, 1900 Gravel Rd., Seneca Falls.

Joy was born on February 22, 1933, in Seneca Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Bernard and Ella (Freeland) Broadbent. She was a 1951 graduate of Mynderse Academy and later graduated from RBI in Rochester. Throughout her career, Joy worked as a phlebotomist at Taylor Brown Memorial Hospital, Geneva General Hospital, and Life Time Care, where she was known for her steady hands and gentle manner with patients.

She is survived by her daughters, Janeen (Michael) Martin and Jill Dougherty; her son, Donald Voorhees of Maryland; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her lifelong friend, Vivian Scott; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Voorhees; her daughter, Sherry Voorhees; her brother, Bernard “Bud” Broadbent; and her grandson, Matthew David Martin.
