John M. Salvage
John M. Salvage, 62, of Auburn, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home Tuesday, April 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was a lifelong resident of the area, the son of the late Carl and Donna (Burgette) Salvage. John had been employed for many years as a corrections officer, mostly at Butler Correctional Facility. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved to hunt, either outside or on Xbox. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, with his favorite driver being Jeff Gordon. His favorite hobby was tending to his yard, which was always taken care of in the most meticulous manner.
John was a very loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He cherished his friends and especially his inner core of closest friends that were like brothers to him. He will be greatly missed and forever held tightly in the hearts of those he touched!
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Amber (Crane) Salvage; son Nicholas (Jodi) Salvage; two granddaughters, Maggie and Ellie; two brothers, George and Mark Salvage; mother-in-law Joan (Kufhta) Crane (David Stilphen); two brothers-in-law, Darin (Laura) Crane and Tyler (Shelia) Crane; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends, his beloved canine friend, Savior, and two very special women that were like family to him, Jennifer Cunningham and Melissa McCormick.
In addition to his parents, John was also predeceased by his father-in-law Harold Crane Jr. and beloved canine friends, Spanky, Tigger, and Thumper.
Calling hours are this Thursday, April 16th, from 3:30-5:30 PM in the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn. Services will immediately follow at 5:30 PM in the funeral home.
