Jody Stafford

Jody Stafford, 61, of Truxton, NY, passed away with her family by her side on April 28, 2026. Born June 5, 1964, in Little Falls, NY, to Spurgeon and Ruby Hill (Beam). She worked at the Smith School in Cortland as a cook; she was loved by and loved all the children she cared for.

Jody had a passion for the outdoors; she enjoyed camping and horses and being out in the sunshine every chance she had. A love of singing and dancing, she was always the life of the party. Jody was a mom to everyone; they called her “Mama Stafford.” She was a mom that every kid wished they had. Loving, kind, and compassionate, she was always there for anyone in need, and her door was open to anyone. “Love you longtime!” was what she told everyone.

Besides her father, Spurgeon, Jody is also predeceased by her sister Tammy Nelson. Jody is survived by her husband, Steve; children, Ashley (Nicholas) Laudermilk and Kyler Stafford; one grandchild, Hunter Opera; brothers, Duane (Penny) Hill and David (Diane) Hill; a sister, Mary Hill; and her mother, Ruby Hill (Beam). Her mother-in-law, Janice Stafford; sister-in-law, Lori (Louie) Crandall; brother-in-law, Edwin (Shelly) Stafford; and also many nieces and nephews.
