James V. Ameigh

James Vernon Ameigh "Poppy," age 66, of Watkins Glen, passed away April 29, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Lynn Ameigh Jr. and Ida (Friends) Ameigh. Also, his sister and brothers, Linda, Joseph, and Jonathon Ameigh; and best friend Don "Duck" Friends.

He is survived by his partner, Janet Blankenship of Watkins Glen; children, James (Tara) Ameigh of Watkins Glen, Kristin (Nick) Haner of Watkins Glen, and Angel Rappleye (Mike Zaric) of Tyrone; brother, Mike (Brittany) Ameigh of Rock Stream; sisters, Kathleen Hartford of North Carolina, and Susan Farr (James Augustine) of Hector; and his three grandbabies, whom he loved, Amber, Bradley, and Joelene Ameigh; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and feline friends.

A Celebration of Life and Pig Roast in his honor was held a week before his passing! He loved the time he spent hunting and fishing with family and shooting pool at Matt's Place. Although he worked in other places, he was a dedicated fixture at Watkins Glen Central School for 30 years, spending 15 of them in the middle school.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Friday, May 15th from 4 PM to 6 PM, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM.
