George V. Rocha Jr.
WATERLOO - George V. Rocha, Jr., age 85, of Waterloo, NY, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Huntington Living Center surrounded by family.
Born on December 7, 1940, in Mercedes, TX, he was the son of George and Antonia Rocha. He actively served in the US Army from 1963 to 1966 and continued to serve in the US Army Reserves until 1969. George then graduated from Auburn Community College in 1968 with degrees in accounting and computer programming. He worked in the banking industry for many years as well as ALCO in Auburn, NY. He retired from Nucor Steel in 2005 after 18 years of dedicated service.
George was a devoted husband, brother, father, and friend. He married Vicki Verburg Rocha on December 4, 1999, and together they shared 26 years of marriage. He was a man known for his creative use of the English language and his dedication to others. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks for 35 years, as well as a member of the American Legion and the Moose Club. He could often be found out on the water in his boat, at the golf course, or at the bowling alley. His love of music lives on through his children and grandchildren to this day.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vicki; his siblings, Paula Gayton, Maria Estella (Samuel) Garcia, Esther McMann, Manuel (Sara) Rocha, Daniel (Diane) Rocha, Santiago (Marilyn) Rocha, and Belia (Jesse) Rodriguez; his children, Wendi (Chad) Kittlaus and Andrew (Tracy) Rocha; his step-child, Nicole (Stephen) DeChick; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many friends who all miss him dearly.
George is preceded in death by his parents, George and Antonia Rocha; and his siblings, Joe Rocha, Rebecca Vidal, and Virginia Morales; and stepson and stepdaughter-in-law Rusty and Roxanne Hayes.
A military service at the New York State Veteran's Cemetery – Finger Lakes will be held at a later date for family.
