George E. Macomber

Dansville, NY June 27, 1963 – February 19, 2026 Age 62

George E. Macomber, 62, of Dansville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at UR Strong in Rochester, surrounded by his loving family.

George was born on June 27, 1963, in Dansville, to the late Murry and Marian (Weaver) Macomber. He was a graduate of Nunda Keshequa High School and later earned his Associate’s Degree from Olean Business Institute.

George retired at the age of 55 following a distinguished career with the Livingston County Department of Social Services, where he rose to the position of Deputy Commissioner. In retirement, he continued to share his expertise by providing consulting services to numerous counties and working as a tax preparer.

In his free time, George enjoyed golfing, dancing, bowling, and trips to the casino. He was also a proud member of the NYPWA. George loved to play euchre and always looked forward to family gatherings. In his younger days, he liked to play tennis. George has been a huge New England Patriots fan from back in the day!

In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his niece, Christa Macomber; his grandson, Jonathan Schleyer; and his brother, Danny Macomber.

George is survived by his beloved wife, Christine “Chrissy” (Condy) Macomber; his cherished “bonus children,” David Luce Jr. and Dawn (Jeremy Black) Schleyer; his grandchildren, Paige, Camden, Michael, and Parker; his beagles, Sophie and Penny; his siblings, Pam and Larry Lennox, Roger Macomber, Gary and Patty Macomber, Ron and Kate Macomber, and Melanie Macomber; his in-laws, Marje and Rick Mincer and Kimberly and Dean Clark; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and an enormous amount of friends and colleagues.

Family and friends are invited to call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the Chamberlin-Baird Funeral Home in Dansville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Palmer officiating. Burial to follow in Greenmount Cemetery. All are welcome to gather at the Union Hose for a celebration of George’s life following the burial.
