Francis E. "Deetz" Simmons

Canandaigua – Francis E. “Deetz” Simmons, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 6, 2026, while surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sandra L. (Cooper) Simmons; four children, Belmont Simmons, Kelly LaFleur, Gordon Simmons (Tracy Brown-Simmons), and Conni (Ricky) Bills; seven grandchildren, Gage (Abbey), Kyle, Quinn (Anthony), Kimberly, Keith, Johnny, and Sara; five great-grandchildren, Jackson, Eloise, Henry, Hazel, and Elias; sister, Dorothy King; and many nieces and nephews.

Fran was born in West Bloomfield and was the son of Mark and Anna (Stanton) Simmons. He was a graduate of Bloomfield Central School, class of 1955. Fran was a US Army veteran and served from 1956-1959, stationed in Europe. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, board games, and spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Friends may call Friday, April 17, from 4-6 pm, at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. His memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at the funeral home.
