Earl T. Veley

Dalton, NY November 21, 1936 – March 2, 2026 Age 89

Earl T. Veley, 89, of Dalton, passed away peacefully at Noyes Memorial Hospital on March 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Earl was born in Groveland, NY, to the late Earl and Ruth (Clemons) Veley and grew up in Nunda, NY, where he graduated from Nunda Central School. He was married to Helen Acomb, who predeceased him in 2012.

Earl is survived by daughters Valerie (Donald) Griffing of Dalton, Vickie Veley of Arlington, VA, and Vessa (Scott) Fisher of Warsaw; two grandchildren Joseph (Raychael) Fisher of Warsaw and Katie (fiancé Alex Butcher) Fisher of Avon; sister-in-law Dorothy Acomb of Dansville; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Earl and his late wife Helen have owned and operated Whiteman Meat Processing in Dansville for the last 46 years, and he was in partnership with Vincent Whiteman for several years before that. For many years, he kept a flock of sheep and served as an officer and member of the local wool coop. He was also a 75-year member of Keshequa Grange.

Calling hours will be 6 PM – 8 PM on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Chamberlin-Baird Funeral Home in Dansville. Earl’s funeral service will take place at 1 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the funeral home with Chaplain Alexander W. Pierce officiating. Friends may gather from 12 PM – 1 PM prior to this service. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in South Dansville next to Helen.
