Donna Treat
Donna Treat, 71, of Auburn passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2026, with her loving family by her side. She was born on September 20, 1954. Donna was raised in the town of Throop and attended Port Byron Elementary School. Donna’s family later moved to Auburn, where she graduated from Auburn High School, class of 1972.
Donna became a single mother at the age of 19 and from that day forward, devoted her entire life to her daughter Dawn. They shared an unimaginable bond like no other, often being mistaken for sisters, which Donna especially loved. Even if you did not know Donna personally, you most likely have seen her shopping at her favorite local spots of Walmart or Marshalls, which was always part of their weekly girls' day. She also loved getting her nails done, with ‘Pink’ always being the color of choice, which she was often teased about. She was a quiet person, always putting family above everything. She played an instrumental part in her grandson Cody’s life and was like a second mom to him. She had a special knack with children and they all loved her.
Donna worked for many years at the Neighborhood House and retired from the Early Childhood Center in 2022. Upon retirement, she took on the role of great-grandma to her pride and joy, Beckham, and this past July welcomed beautiful baby Emersyn. Her love for them was beyond words. Donna was a very loving, caring, and nurturing woman that touched many lives and will be so deeply missed.
She is survived by her loving daughter and best friend Dawn Treat (Kevin), grandson Cody Cottrell (Mariah), great-grandson Beckham (her birthday twin), great-granddaughter Emersyn, sister-in-law Darlene Treat, and two nieces. Donna was predeceased by her parents, Ernie and Dorothy Treat, and a brother, Larry Treat.
Per Donna’s request, there will be no calling hours and a graveside service will be held privately for immediate family in the coming months in Throopsville Rural Cemetery, alongside her parents and brother. ‘Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down.’ To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Donna Treat, please visit our floral store.
