Waterloo: David Parrow, 85, passed away Friday, May 1, 2026, at Geneva General Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a funeral mass which will be celebrated at a time to be announced, at Saint Mary’s Church, Waterloo. Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.

Dave was born on July 28, 1940, in Geneva, NY, the son of the late Maurice O. and Mary E. (Seabrook) Parrow. He was a 1954 graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic School in Waterloo and a 1958 graduate of Waterloo High School, where he proudly played football, basketball, and baseball. He served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1961, earning the rank of E-4.

For many years, Dave and his wife operated Parrow’s Automotive in Waterloo, a business they ran together with dedication and pride until his retirement in 2006.

Dave’s baseball talent was remarkable from a young age. He pitched the first Little League All-Star game in Waterloo in 1951 and went on to pitch many winning games for Waterloo High School. During his service in the U.S. Navy, he pitched and won five games while stationed in the West Pacific in Japan. He also served in Korea and Okinawa. Known for his “Big John Gee” curveball and fastball, Dave’s skill on the mound was remembered by many.

His interests extended well beyond baseball. Dave enjoyed drag racing, go-kart, sprint car, and modified racing, as well as horse racing. He was a member of the American Legion Post #435, a charter member of the Waterloo Jaycees, and a longtime member of the North Seneca Sportsman’s Club, where he served on the Trap Team, earned High Gun, and served on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer.

Dave loved fishing and hunting, traveling, and spending winters in Florida. Above all, he cherished his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his beloved cats.

Dave is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kathaleen M. (Brignall); his sons, David M. (Margaret) and Robert G. (Cathy) Parrow; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his sisters Mary (Dr. Peter) Huntington and Sue Evangelista; his brother Frederick (Mary Jane) Parrow; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Maureen Ward, who passed away on March 28, 2025; his brother Richard Parrow.
