Connie was born in Geneva, NY, on August 28, 1933, the daughter of the late Gertrude (McCormick) and John F. O’Malley. She was one of seven O’Malley children and was a great-granddaughter of Irish immigrants who settled in Geneva. Connie graduated from DeSales High School in the class of 1951 and began working for the telephone company in Geneva. She was also a former teller at Finger Lakes Federal Credit Union. Connie married Gene McFadden in Geneva in 1955, and they were married for a remarkable 64 years.
Connie was a woman of great faith, attended mass daily for as long as she was able to, and was a member and Eucharistic Minister of Our Lady of Peace Parish. She was a longtime member of the Geneva Winnek Post #396 Auxiliary and volunteered with her husband Gene at the Geneva Center of Concern.
Connie was a devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her family, whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her children: Thomas (Marianne) of Ocean Pines, MD, Mary (John) Schramm of Roswell, GA, Barbara (Jeffrey) Leonard of Cumming, GA, and Bob (Ann) of Geneva; sister-in-law, Mary (Doersam) O’Malley; grandchildren: Kate, Ben, Emily, and Natalie McFadden, Will, John, and Mary Kate Leonard, and Bradley and Michael Schramm; and several nieces and nephews.
Connie was predeceased by her husband, Gene, and two sons Richard and John McFadden; brothers John, Robert, Richard, and Philip O’Malley; and sisters Janet O’Malley and Patricia Mahota.
Connie and family would like to acknowledge and thank the nursing staff at both the Homestead Nursing Home and URMC Hospice for their devoted care and compassion.
