Charles E. “Charlie” Emery
Charles D. “Charlie” Emery, 83, of Hornell Street, passed away late Saturday evening (March 14, 2026) at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY after a short illness.
Born in Hornell on April 6, 1942 he was a son of the late Shirley and Thelma (Myers) Emery. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by one brother, Philip Emery and one sister, Mary Alice Jacobmeyer.
A lifelong resident of Hornell, Charlie was a graduate of Hornell High School and proudly served his country with the U.S. Army from 1963 to his honorable discharge in 1965.
He was employed at one time by the former SKF Industries in Hornell.
Charlie was a member of the Arthur H. Cunningham American Legion Post No. 440 in Hornell, the Hornell Association and the Hornell Moose Lodge No. 210.
While growing up he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Charlie was a great guy and was very pleasant to be around; everyone enjoyed his wonderful sense of humor.
He is lovingly survived by two sisters, Beverly Perry of Binghamton, NY and Martha Croston of Hornell; as well as several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. He will be laid to rest, at the convenience of his family, next to his parents, his brother, Philip and his sister, Mary Alice at Rural Cemetery in Hornell.
