Veterans participate in a ceremony honoring Yates County's Vietnam Veterans, holding service flags beneath the American and New York State flags.

A flag-raising ceremony was held Wednesday morning in front of the Yates County Building in Penn Yan to honor veterans on the 50th anniversary of when the last 2,500 American Combat troops were withdrawn from Vietnam.

A group of local Vietnam veterans and members of the public attended the ceremony. The Honor Guard from the Johnson-Costello American Legion Post presented the colors and there were brief remarks made by County Director of Veteran Services Doug Gibbs and County Legislator Carlie Chilson.
