For the first time in seven years, Yates County has updated its Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.

The purpose of the plan is to develop a comprehensive emergency management program that provides a system to mitigate the effects of an emergency or disaster, preserve life, respond during emergencies, provide necessary assistance, and establish a recovery system, in the event the county experiences an emergency. A resolution adopting the updated plan was approved by the county legislature in September.

The updated plan attempts to clearly define the roles and responsibilities of each department and function within the county organization by providing guidance to accomplish its objectives.
