Watkins Glen’s Gorge Trail Nominated for Best Hiking Trail

Hikers walk along a winding paved trail through the scenic Watkins Glen Gorge in autumn, surrounded by rock walls and fall foliage.
Visitors enjoy the scenic Gorge Trail at Watkins Glen State Park, which was recently nominated for Best Hiking Trail.

Just a few months before it will undergo construction for about a year, Watkins Glen State Park’s Gorge Trail is in the running for USA Today’s 10 Best Hiking Trails.  You can vote once per day for the Trail up until the end of voting at Noon on May 12th.

Starting July 7th, the trial will be under construction.  It is expected to reopen before July 4, 2026.  During construction, access to the Gorge Trail and 15 waterfalls will be accessible from the North Rim Trail, and shuttle service will remain available.
