By a margin of just 11 votes, residents have given the green light for the Watkins Glen school district to buy back a parcel of land it once owned.

The 88-77 vote means the district will now hold a meeting with residents for the best use of the property, which was once a school playground.

Several years ago, the International Motor Racing Research Center purchased a quarter acre of land at the corner of 15th and Decatur Streets from the school for $50,000. With the Center never using the land, it now offered it back to the school district for 62-THOUSAND dollars.
