Investigators believe they know what caused a three-alarm barn fire in the town of Jerusalem last Tuesday.

An investigation determined a hay chopper caught fire inside the Keech Road barn causing the hay stored inside to catch fire. Firefighters from Branchport-Keuka Park, Penn Yan, Potter, Prattsburgh, Benton, Bellona, Rushville, and Middlesex departments responded while several other departments were on standby.

No animals were inside the barn owned by Lester Hoover and no injuries were reported.
