Tompkins County Sheriff’s Warns of New Phone Scam

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office wants the residents it serves to know that Sheriff Derek Osborne is not calling residents to tell them they have outstanding citations or have missed jury duty in an attempt to solicit money.

The Sheriff’s Office said it learned of this scam in the last week. While the sheriff’s office will never solicit payment over the phone it may attempt to contact a resident who has an outstanding warrant.
