State Police Warn Steuben County Residents of Internet Scam

New York State Police is warning individuals about a scam via the internet and phone, in Steuben County. Two recent victims have been contacted via computer pop-ups saying their bank accounts have been compromised, and they need to contact the number on the screen to protect their assets.

Troopers say if you are contacted via one of these suspicious pop-ups DO NOT respond to the suspects, DO NOT send money, and notify New York State Police immediately.

These scams are targeting the elderly and vulnerable.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call State Police Canandaigua at  585-398-4100.
