The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office has launched a month-long holiday food drive to support local families in need.

Non-perishable food items can be dropped off in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office on 10th Street in Watkins Glen. Anyone needing to schedule a specific drop-off time can contact Chaplain Mike Kelly at 607-228-7586.

Sheriff’s officials say the drive comes as many families continue to face hardships tied to the prolonged federal government shutdown and the suspension of SNAP benefits, both of which have increased the need for food assistance in the region.

Donations will be accepted through December 21.
