The New York State Department of Transportation says a section of State Route 54 in the Town of Barrington will be closed next week for a culvert replacement project.

The closure begins at 12 a.m. Monday, October 6, and is expected to last through Friday, October 10. The affected stretch runs parallel to East Lake Road.

A signed detour will direct motorists to State Route 230 and State Route 14A. Drivers should expect delays and consider alternate routes.

DOT officials remind motorists that construction work is weather-dependent and subject to change. They also urge drivers to use caution in work zones, noting that fines are doubled for speeding and multiple work zone violations can result in a suspended license.
