Ithaca firefighters and Bangs Ambulance crews rescued an injured man from Six Mile Creek on Saturday evening after he fell near the 60-foot dam. Firefighters located him about 100 yards downstream and treated his injuries before using multiple rope systems to lift him to safety.

Due to the difficult terrain, a third alarm was struck, bringing in off-duty firefighters and mutual aid crews. The victim was stabilized on scene and airlifted to a regional trauma center.

Ithaca Fire Department thanked Cayuga Heights and Newfield Fire Departments for their assistance.
