A request by the Watkins Glen Fire Department to replace its 20-year-old emergency boat with a newer model was rejected by the village board this week.

The request was for the purchase of a Firehawk 20 emergency boat at a cost of 161-THOUSAND dollars. The Odessa File reports Mayor Laurie DeNardo suggested the service be shared by Schuyler County.

DeNardo added the village would continue to look for funding to buy the boat.
