Students from Penn Yan's St. Michael School pose with chaperones and politicians at the Speaker's podium inside the New York State Assembly chamber during their visit to the State Capitol.

It is an annual tradition for the 5th-grade class at St. Michael School in Penn Yan.

Every year, they travel to Albany and visit the New York State Capitol. Once again this year, Assemblyman Phil Palmesano welcomed the class. Students were given a tour of the Assembly Chamber and had a chance to ask questions about how the state government operates.

“I always enjoy the opportunity to meet with students from back home and to showcase our historic state Capitol. They were full of interest and energy, asked some great questions and I have no doubt they all have a very bright future ahead of them. Thank you to Mr. Prather and his 5th grade class for an enjoyable visit and discussion,” said Palmesano.
