Police say speed was a factor in a one-car crash in Yates County that resulted in the driver being ejected.

The Thursday night accident on State Route 245 just north of Flint Hill Road in the town of Middlesex resulted in 24-year-old Katlin Wells, of Penn Yan, being airlifted by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

Wells, who was the only person in the car, was ticketed for speeding, failure to keep right and not wearing her seat belt.

The Middlesex Fire Department, Canandaigua Ambulance, Mercy Flight, Middlesex Ambulance, Rushville Fire Department and the Yates County Office of Emergency Services all responded at the Yates County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
