Starting today, the Village of Penn Yan will be flushing hydrants this week.

The village’s Department of Public Works says residents may see a discoloration of the water in your household. This doesn’t mean your water is unsafe. If you have discolored water, the Village recommends running cold water from your tap for 3-5 minutes then fill a glass with water and inspect it for clarity. If the water is discolored, wait 15-20 minutes and repeat the procedure.

Any questions can be directed to the village’s Department of Public Works at 315-279-3565.
