Voters in the Penn Yan School District have approved a $12 million capital improvement project. On Tuesday, 268 residents voted in favor, while 79 voted against the proposal.

The project will be funded through a combination of State Building Aid, the district’s Capital Reserve, Debt Service funds, and a bond, with no additional increase in local taxes.

Planned improvements include replacing the elementary school playground, upgrading aging windows, flooring, and millwork, and making upgrades to LED lighting and HVAC systems.

Construction is expected to begin in February 2027 and be completed by October of the same year.
