Penn Yan Man Dies in Schuyler County Bike Accident

The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal bicycle accident that occurred on Sunday near the intersection of State Route 230 and Crystal Valley Road in the Town of Tyrone.

According to authorities, the incident happened around 4:40 p.m. Fire and EMS responded to the scene after a male cyclist was involved in a crash that resulted in traumatic injuries.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the victim, traveling northbound on State Route 230, collided with another bicycle riding alongside him. The impact caused the victim, 62-year-old Leroy Sensenig, of Penn Yan, to be ejected from his bicycle, resulting in a severe head injury. Despite life-saving efforts, Sensenig was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation by the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office.
