The Penn Yan Village Board approved its 2025-26 budget this week, adopting a spending plan that includes a 5.99% increase in the property tax levy.

The levy—the total amount to be raised through property taxes—will rise by $220,118. According to village officials, this is expected to add approximately $115 to the average property tax bill, which stood at $2,049.53 for the 2024-25 fiscal year.

To help limit the impact of the tax increase, the village is applying a one-time appropriation of $221,000 from its unassigned general fund balance.
