Authorities in Yates County are looking into what caused a Middlesex man to drive off Main Street in the village of Rushville Monday night and strike a tree.
Austin Renfer’s Dodge Ram 2500 pickup sustained heavy damage and was located at the intersection of Main and Bassett streets at around 6 o’clock. The 22-year-old was extricated from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Rushville Fire Department, Middlesex Fire/Ambulance, and the Yates County Office of Emergency Services.
