A house fire in Tompkins County early Sunday morning claimed the life of a 73-year-old man.
According to State Police, the body of Gary Hendrix was found inside the home by the Groton Fire Department just after 1 a.m. A 69-year-old woman was able to escape through a window and was taken by ambulance to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse for non-life-threatening injuries.
There is no word yet on what caused the fatal fire.
