Long-time Food Bank of the Southern Tier President and CEO Natasha Thompson will be stepping down from her role on March 17th to become the new President and CEO of WSKG, the PBS & NPR member station in Binghamton.
For more than two decades, Thompson has been an instrumental leader at the Food Bank. As its President and CEO, Thompson helped build one of the strongest community food banks in the country. Under her leadership, the Food Bank was named Food Bank of the Year in 2017 by Feeding America, the nation’s food banking network. Thompson also led the organization through a successful $5.75M capital campaign that helped grow the organization’s operations and services across the region. The Food Bank distributes nearly 13 million pounds of food annually across a six-county region through a network of 160 partner agencies—including food pantries and meal programs—as well as direct service programs like the Mobile Food Pantry.
“Natasha is a respected leader and is well-known for her vision, compassion, and drive to end hunger in our communities,” said Joe Thomas, Chair of the Board for the Food Bank. “During her tenure, she has developed an extremely strong leadership team with the same passion and fire that she brought to the role every day. And, while we will miss her, we wish Natasha well in her next chapter.”
The Board of Directors and Catholic Charities are working closely together on a transition plan as the external search for a full-time replacement is underway.
“I am very proud of the work we have done together in this community,” Thompson said. “Our Senior Leadership Team is one of the smartest, most dedicated teams of professionals that I have had the pleasure to work with. I have no doubt they will continue to deliver and improve on the many programs and services we bring to our communities daily.”
