Local Firefighters Join Forces to Battle Wildfire in Orange County

15 firefighters from Schuyler County are in Orange County to help fight an ongoing wildfire.

The Montour Falls, Watkins Glen, Tyrone, Burdett, Mecklenberg, Hector, and Beaver Dams fire companies have sent manpower and equipment to help with fire suppression and protect homes and businesses that are in danger from a 5,000-acre wildfire that started in New Jersey and spread due to drought conditions.

Firefighters will be working 12-hour shifts.

As of Monday night, the fire was 20 % contained.
