Authorities have identified the driver who died in a head-on crash early Friday morning on Interstate 90 in Oneida County.

The driver of the 2018 Jeep, 35-year-old Quinntin Walker, of Ithaca, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Jeep struck a 2018 Ford pickup driven by 47-year-old Mark Jean, of Fulton. Jean is in a medically induced coma at Upstate Hospital. The passenger in the Ford, 46-year-old Nicholas Malone, is conscious but in critical condition and also being treated at Upstate Hospital.

State Police say the incident began around 2:25 a.m. when troopers observed the Jeep traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-90. Troopers followed the vehicle for approximately 12 miles in an attempt to stop the driver before it collided with the Ford pickup.

Westbound lanes were blocked following the crash, with a diversion set up at Exit 32. Members of State Police Troop T and the Troop D Bureau of Criminal Investigation continue to investigate the incident.
