The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is advising drivers of several overnight ramp closures along Interstate 86 in the City of Corning to accommodate a paving project.

The closures will take place between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. on the following dates:

  • Monday, September 29: Westbound on-ramp and off-ramp at Exit 46 (Watkins Glen / Corning)
  • Tuesday, September 30: Eastbound on-ramp and off-ramp at Exit 46 (Watkins Glen / Corning)
  • Wednesday, October 1: Eastbound on-ramp and off-ramp at Exit 47 (Gibson / Corning)
  • Thursday, October 2: Westbound on-ramp and off-ramp at Exit 47 (Gibson / Corning)
  • Friday, October 3: Eastbound on-ramp and off-ramp at Exit 48 (East Corning)
  • Monday, October 6: Westbound on-ramp and off-ramp at Exit 48 (East Corning)

In addition, intermittent short-term ramp closures are expected in both directions at Exits 46, 47, and 48 beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, through 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8. Detours will be posted, and variable message boards have been placed to alert motorists ahead of the closures.

NYSDOT is reminding drivers to expect travel delays, consider alternate routes, and exercise caution in work zones. Construction is weather-dependent and subject to schedule changes.

Fines are doubled for speeding in work zones, and two or more work zone speeding convictions can result in a driver’s license suspension.
